This morning Limpopo and part of Jozi woke up to the sounds of Musicafella. This time it wasn’t a live DJ mix or one of our renowned elements performances, but it was an intriguing interview with Meropa on Phalaphala FM.

With Gumba Fire coming up this weekend, the pre-party is at Khoroni on Friday 21 December and the main event at Mutswiriri Cultural Centre on Saturday 22 December 2012, the excitement and anticipation can be felt in the air around Limpopo and especially Venda.

Meropa shared the Musicafella life-story - how the group came about, what inspires each individual and the different projects Musicafella has been part of recently.

Meropa also promised a sensational set for this weekend’s festival. So if you’re looking for something fresh and meaningful before spending quality time with the family over Christmas, do come through to the best show on offer: Gumba Fire!

Deep House Sessions @ Club Neh

So, we made another appearance at Club Neh, only this time the stage was perfectly set for Musicafella to take the vibe to the next level.

Featuring Meropa & Arasoulsax, Musicafella took full advantage of the opportunity to move the music hungry crowd. We delivered a splendid set, presented mostly through percussions.

We once again played alongside DJ Collen. A well put together event, big ups to the folks at Club Neh for looking out for tha brothas!

Loved every minute of this party! The manner in which the collective from the Malboro surrounding areas appreciate their house music is always inspirational to us performaning artists. The vibe is always a combined feel of the crowd feeding the DJ & artists.

Velvet Suite Lounge Kasi Tour @ Boza's Kishin

This past Saturday Velvet Suite Lounge (VSL) had a leg of their Kasi Tour at Boza’s Kishin.

For this event, they featured the Deep Junkyz on the decks and Musicafella on live elements. The setting at Boza’s Kishin was just right, as a result creating a party atmosphere that was quite phenomenal.

Bruno & bra Charlie ensured that everything ran smoothly and the event was a success. Dankie Madoda!

Once again the combination of VSL & Musicafella proved to be ‘off tha hook’. We won’t use too many words to describe this shin ding, we’d rather let you get a feel for yourself of how it unfolded.

Nic Rock's Bday Celebration

Posted by Musicafella Admin on November 6, 2012 at 2:50 PM Comments comments (0)

Our good mate Nicolas aka Roc* was celebrating his birthday on the very first Friday of November.

Hosted at Maimane Phiri’s beautiful shisanyama, the Executive Bottle Store in Alex, this event was a lovely chillas. Everything presented on the night was bliss. The titillating scent of inyama on the braai grill, the lovely ladies that added color to the environment, the music which graced the air all just came together and painted a delightful picture.

The entertainment was definitely the highlight of the night. Musicafella represented by Meropa & Arasoulsax played alongside some of the top DJs from Alex.

With a crowd that understands and appreciates house music, Musicafella spiced up the night by delivering an ass bumping, & soul rocking set that moved most who were there. The featured artists and DJs were awesome too. Madoda killed it on the congas and bongos, sista Smangele was too sick on her delivery of African inspired mind-opening poetry and DJs Staach, Razor, Sweetman & Scotch dropped floor shaking beats.

Happy Birthday Roc*, we sincerely hope you enjoyed every moment of your day.

Thanks for always keeping us in high spirits and taking great care of us. God permitting, we shall do it again for years to come!

Cameo Performance @ Club Neh

In the early hours of last Saturday morning we sprung a surprise visit to our long time friend DJ Colin, who was holding down his residency at club Neh in Malboro, North of Joburg.

Those who know Club Neh will understand the ‘thing loving culture’ of the people that sample the unique vibe it offers. Thing loving in their sleek appearance, their taste for fine wine & whisky and their ear for good music.

This spot is the type of place where everyone goes to after all the parties & braais around have finished for the night. As the night concludes everywhere else, so it commences again at Club Neh.

DJ Colin was inspired on the night, throwing in some hot South African produced cuts, mixed with a touch of tribal sounds. Being spontaneous and smart in recognizing a wonderful opportunity to give a crowd an elevated club experience, DJ Colin welcomed Musicafella’s Meropa on the stage.

The cameo performance by Meropa blew the socks off the party lovers. This session was soooooo special, the time Meropa got off the percussions the crowd was screaming for more. Definitely a gig we will do again soon, this time featuring the complete Musicafella fellas on stage.

Thanks DJ Colin and the Club Neh crew for the super session.

2C De Junky Bday Celebration

Posted by Musicafella Admin on October 28, 2012 at 8:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Ooooooh yeah!

That’s the first thing that comes to mind when I reflect back on this gig.

Picture this: a community park, stretch tents, a warm Spring night, house junkies who are hungry to be entertained and of course, the main course…yours truly.

Wow, this event was just simply sick!

Musicafella played alongside Velvet Suite Lounge once more and their unique musical talents shone through the Tembisa night for all to savor.

Paul Solaris was on the decks; Neo Soulstar on vocals; Arasoulsax on sax, small percussions & flute; Deepkidd on keys & decks and Meropa on percussions.

This was the second time the 2 stables collaborated and you could have sworn they’ve been jamming for years. The sound their fusion created was outstanding.

Thanks to the Tembisa folks for jamming and loving what we do.

Thanks to the Deep Junkyz, especially Owza, for taking great care of us and providing a wonderful platform on which we could showcase our love for music.

Sunday Soul Sessions @ Jack Budha

This past Sunday Moriski invited us to perform at theirlaunch of the Sunday Soul Sessions in Mamelodi, Pretoria.

The setting for the day was strickly pholas - a chilledambience where mature people of Mamelodi came out to meet, socialize and connectwith like minded people. And the music served up was Jazz, Lounge & DownTempo.

Arasoulsax and Meropa blessed the day with a devine &sophisticated performance which was thoroughly appreciated by the crowd.

This was another event which allowed Musicafella to showcasetheir musical versatility and genuine craft.

The beautiful people who came to enjoy the setting created apicturesque environment which inspired Arasoulsax & Meropa to cook up a setto die for.

An awesome event, really awesome!

Sir Mango's Birthday Celebration

Posted by Musicafella Admin on October 15, 2012 at 11:55 AM Comments comments (0)

This past weekend started off with a visit to Limpopo’s Hottest Frequency – Capricorn FM, where Deepkidd dropped a wicked set which officially got the province’s weekend underway.

The main event for the weekend was Sir Mango’s Birthday Celebration, hosted at a wonderful venue called Matopo Lakes Gardens in Venda. The weather on Saturday was a little suspect and the cloud cover never really cleared but that didn’t stop people from coming out to have a good time.

Musicafella played the main set for the night, from midnight to 02h00. The crowd’s response was great. Musicafella gets massive love from the people of Limpopo and this event was no different. We really enjoyed playing at this event and everything was well put together, from the sound, the stage, venue and people.

Thanks to Khatu, Sir Mango and everybody who took good care of us. Also thanks to the crowd, for always showing support and appreciation for Musicafella.

Got nothin’ but love for ya!

Check out some highlights of the event here.
